Ballyhoo and Blackout Project at is Venue

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. Even though for me any music is better than no music, the opening act Ballyhoo and the main act, The Blackout Project, brought two different types of nice sounds.

Ballyhoo has more of a ska influenced tone for their music. They delivered well and with confidence. Their music was excellent but I have no way to describe it without making it sound like something else. They deliver music almost like you expect them to sound and they deliver it consistantly.

The Blackout Project is a 3 man band with an emcee (the fourth man) delivering most of the verses. However, it’s hard to ignore the comfort of the musicians moving through different types of rock n roll time signatures and instrumental styles. Also, I think the backup singer’s delivery is underrated as The Blackout Project could probably just as easily string together some energetic new rock tunes as well as they mix their rap floes on their rock roots. And I know the bass guitar player in passing.
