#2 – thats from Susie Orman. “People first, money second, things last” eh.
3-5 – OK..can live with most of that. But like you said…..blood doesn’t automate with love or even like. Might give someone a pass or two – but after that – they are who they are, family or not.
6-10….keep it simple. The first five pretty much cover these – if not in a broader sense.

Cant wait to see your list. I think you can do it in three. Take care my friend!

I can live with that. Be respectful is a good starting point. Let’s see… the next point should be Attempt to see the big picture when making decisions. That way you’re encouraging people to take a moment and see how what they are doing and how they are feeling works for or against various goals.

Top ten lists suffer from one of two issues: to make an exact number they either repeat themselves with different wording (see above) or they cut out things that should be in there.

Besides, here’s the one rule to rule to them all:

Be respectful of yourself and others, in that order.

Steal if you need it to survive, but don’t steal just for fun. Keep your promises, except when its necessary to break them. Take time for yourself but meet your obligations if you can. Don’t kill, unless you have to protect yourself or somebody else. Be ambitious, but also realistic.

I think that pretty much covers all of those commandments and covers the breaking of rules out of necessity.

You bring up a fair point. Communication is a broad subject and what I’m acknowledging our parents did well in this post is a specific aspect of communication. Also, being able to communicate doesn’t negate the fact that I can choose where to put that effort. I feel like we talked on the phone maybe a year ago and things were cordial so your complaint must be about how often we talk.

I agree that you’re not going to feel like communication is a strong point. We haven’t been on the same page working toward the same goals in as long as I can remember. When you’ve got something to accomplish, I’m all ears. Otherwise, I recommend you don’t view absence of communication as a bitter pill but rather each person struggling to accomplish their individual goals.

Remember that time you facebooked how much you hated me randomly? Those kinds of things lower my interest in communicating for sure. And this is kind of a minor version of that.

Communication is such an odd subject for you to discuss. Over the 30 some years that I have known you I have found you anything but communicative. I hope that life has brought folks into your life that you are able to be open and emotionally intimate with. It is one of the wonderful things in life.

Thanks for the comment. I’d give the White Queen a pass if that was the majority of where all the sexism and such came from. And true, it boils down to basically these factors took me out of my movie zone. I think X-Men is about equality in essence and so overlooking these issues is a weak point.

You know this was set in the ’60s, right? I’m not a bit surprised that there were no black agents or that female agents were condescended to- that’s the way the world was back then.

That IS how Banshee flies- not so sure about the other aspects of his power.

Shaw’s power was slightly different from the comics in that he only absorbs kinetic energy there- so absorbing radiation would probably kill him.

Pointless moaning about the White Queen and sexism- that’s her character. That’s how she dresses and acts. You could change that, but then you’d get people moaning that she’d been toned down.

I get your racism complaints, I’m just not that bothered by it. Plenty of real racism in the world- no need to go looking for it via casting choices.

Other people probably liked it for more or less the same reasons that I did- it was just an enjoyable super-hero action flick- but set in the ’60s. Magneto was also the big draw for me- it was good to see the character at that point in his life.

You didn’t like it though, and that’s fair enough, I suppose.
